8 Ways to Simplify Choosing a College

Where do I start, is that what I’m going to do the rest of my life, what are my choices?  Deciding on what college, university, or educational institution to attend can be a daunting task.

It is not uncommon or unreasonable for students to enter college with a less then defined path of study. That’s what college is all about, discovering what you can do!  To help you on your decision, here are a few tips on choosing a school that is right for you:

1. Don’t get all worked up about not knowing your area of study or know that if your choice does change, that’s ok.

2. Identify your passion, your interests, and your strengths.

3. Align these interests and strengths of yours with degree or study programs.

4. If you have several interests and strengths, see if they align with a type of college or department (i.e. liberal arts college, physical sciences department, etc).

5. Choose several schools that have complementary departments or programs.

6. If you are very unsure what you have an interest in, choose larger colleges or university that offer a wider range of programs of study.

7. Is it within your financial means, what scholarships or aid programs do they offer?

8. Do you have or can you obtain the general entrance requirements for each of your school choices?
